Who are We?
Every year, the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) sends four students and two faculty members to the BME Annual meeting. This year, the meeting is being held in Atlanta, GA from October 17-20. The secretary, treasurer, chair of events, and fundraising chair of BMES are going to attend along with the Head of the BME Department and a new BME professor.
The BME Annual Conference brings people from around the country together to present and showcase the professional opportunities that BME graduates can pursue. Over three days our students and faculty members will get the chance to network with presenters and professionals in the field, see showcases of research and work that is currently happening, and learn about professional and academic options for their next steps!
This is important because the upperclassmen students that are going have begun to think about what the next step is for them and this conference gives them an opportunity to learn first-hand what might be the best fit. This conference has been beneficial to students for many years and our organization wants to continue benefiting the next generation of BME students.
Where will the money go?
The money raised will ensure that all four students can attend the conference.
If extra funds are raised after conference is completely funded, BMES would like to plan trips and company tours in the upcoming fall and spring semester for our members. Previously, the club attended the Boston Science Museum and toured Boyd Technologies in Lee, MA.
Updates on our progress will be given every Friday of the campaign. This will be on the College of Engineering Facebook page.
