In times of adversity, community is more important than ever. Our Western New England family has an unprecedented opportunity to support our students during this challenging season. After Spring break, students will not be returning to campus but will complete their semester’s work through remote-learning. While temporarily closing our residence halls and stopping in-person classes was critical to protect their health, for many students this change has created unforeseen financial crises, including the loss of work-study employment for undergrad students.
We have created a Student Emergency Fund to support undergraduate and graduate students across the University through this time and to ensure they have the financial resources to focus on their academic work. Our Fund will provide for emergency needs from laptops for online learning, to travel assistance for those who cannot afford to return home, to rent and living expenses, and other needs. The Dean of Students and Provost will ensure that these funds support our students who have the greatest need.
Please help us not only enable our students to succeed, but also show them the power of the Golden Bear community cheering them on through these difficult days.
